I just can't say enough about this man- he was probably one of the most underrated directors of all time. No, he never directed a "Casablanca" or a "Citizen Kane," but to be honest, I think his work was more important.
Yes, I am serious. Sure, Citizen Kane is "the greatest film of all time" blah blah blah, but I can guarantee that Hughes' work brought more joy into the hearts of the American viewing public than anything in AFI's Top Ten. Joy is important. Laughter is important. John Hughes, was a very important man. God bless you Mr. Hughes.
